My Hometown #01 | Germany: Koblenz - Bonn and I

My name is Christoph Kußnerus and I am studying "Logistics and E-business" at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in Germany. This is a business management degree course, which is taught at the RheinAhr Campus in Remagen. I spend my semester abroad in Shanghai because of its proximity to the e-business sector and because I like the city very much in terms of culture.

Bonn and I

You will probably wonder why two cities are my hometown. I don't live directly in Koblenz or Bonn, but in Remagen. It is a small town. The bridge of Remagen played an important role in the Second World War. Remagen is located directly on the city border of Bonn, the former capital of Germany.

The city of Koblenz is only 30 minutes away by car.

Bonn offers a beautiful backdrop, especially in spring. Then the cherry blossoms bloom on the trees. Not far from Bonn there is “Phantasialand”. It is a large, lovely decorated amusement park.

The “Deutsches Eck” is located in Koblenz. This is a popular destination for tourists from different nations.

Due to the direct proximity of both cities to my place of residence, both cities are my home. I spend a lot of free time in both of them.

In Koblenz you can take the cable car from the “Deutsches Eck” up to the Fortress Ehrenbreitstein. Then you enjoy a wonderful, unique view of Koblenz and the “Deutsches Eck”.

Every year you can be blessed with a colorful firework at the end of the city summer party. Accompanied by great music and good food.

Now you're probably wondering why I live in Remagen. I am studying at the Campus Remagen of the University of Applied Science Koblenz. The distance between the two locations is comparable to that of the SHU.

Around Koblenz, Remagen and Bonn there are vineyards which offer a beautiful scenery for walks in summer. If you want to get away from the vineyards, it's a good idea to drive to “Maria Laach”, only 15 minutes away. There is an abbey that is still in use today. The old masonry was built on the edge of a maar. On the maar you can spend a great day with boats or simply stroll around the lake.

If you want to have an action-day, you are also very fast at the legendary, worldwide known “Nürburgring” and the notorious, legendary “Nordschleife”. The 24 hour race takes place there once a year. A magnet for the whole area and not only for motorsport fans.

Where we are already at the Nürburgring: every year “Rock am Ring” takes place there. This is a music festival. It is one of the largest in Europe.

As you can see, the region I come from, offers many possibilities to relax your daily life by excursions, walks and other activities. Even in winter it is beautiful there.

If you are more oriented towards business, then the region is also a very good location. You are quickly at the airport and have reached the cities of Cologne, Bonn, Koblenz and Trier in a very short time.

If you want to say something about your hometown, just write it down and send the article with photos to shu_isu@126.com. Don't forget to introduce yourself.
